  • DANCE EXPERIENCE: Midori has been dancing for 12 years. She began with ballet, and has since added jazz, modern, lyrical, and hip-hop to her repertoire. Throughout her years of ballet training, Midori completed examinations with the Royal Academy of Dance, most recently the Advanced I syllabus in 2010. She has loved her first three years in the McMaster Dance Club and is delighted to finish off her undergraduate career as president of the club.
  • ASPIRATIONS AFTER GRADUATION: To pursue a career in scientific illustration.
  • WHAT MIDORI LOVES MOST ABOUT DANCE: "Dance is something you can always improve - no matter how good you get, there's always further to go. It's exciting to push your body to its limit."

  • FAVOURITE MUSICAL: Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella 
  • DANCE EXPERIENCE: Kristen began dancing at the age of four in ballet and tap, but fell in love with acrobatics when she joined the Jaymor School of Dancing competitive team at age nine. Since then, she has also competed in other styles such as jazz, ballet, lyrical, and musical theatre. She has been a member of the McMaster Dance Club since first year and is very excited to share her passion for dance again this year. 
  • ASPIRATIONS AFTER GRADUATION: Possibly as a health educator, or to set up programs of exercise and nutrition for children
  • WHAT KRISTEN LOVES MOST ABOUT DANCE: "Dance always seems to uplift my spirit and it creates a community for people to express themselves."

  • DANCE EXPERIENCE: Calleigh began dancing at the age of 6 at Carol Kitchen's Dance Center in Brantford, Ontario. She began with Acro and then branched out to tap, hip hop, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. She danced competitively starting at the age of 12 and loved her time at Carol Kitchen's. She began assisting a number of classes at the age of 13, and began to teach at 17. She is looking forward to her second year in the McMaster Dance Club! 
  • ASPIRATIONS AFTER GRADUATION: To pursue a career in Public Relations

  • FAVOURITE CHOREOGRAPHER: TOKYO & Travis Wall
  • FAVOURITE MUSICAL: Billy Elliot
  • DANCE EXPERIENCE: Evelyn has been dancing since the age of 6 and her passion for dance stemmed from her years at Niesie's Studio of Dance. Along with her jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, and lyrical experience, she was also a member of the WDHS Dance Team. Evelyn discovered her love for choreography early on and had the opportunity to teach dance for several years.  She has been a Mac Dance Club member and choreographer for her first two years at McMaster, and looks forward to an amazing 2013/2014 year!
  • ASPIRATIONS AFTER GRADUATION: Hopes to continue her studies in a healthcare-related field
  • WHAT EVELYN LOVES MOST ABOUT DANCE: "I have fallen in love with dance because it allows me to use movement to express all of my creative energy."

  • FAVOURITE MUSICAL: Phantom of the Opera and Marry Poppins                                                                
  •  DANCE EXPERIENCE: Marianne began dancing at the age of 5 and immediately fell in love with it.  She began competing in both jazz and tap at the age of 7 and continued competing at Laurie-Ann’s School of Dance in London until graduating from high school.  Throughout her dance years, she has competed not only in jazz and tap but also in many other styles, receiving several overall awards across Canada and the United States.   Over the years, Marianne has added ballet, pointe, lyrical, modern, contemporary, acro, musical theatre and hip hop to her repertoire; however her true passion has always been tap.  Marianne has been involved with the McMaster Dance Club since first year and is thrilled to be able to share her passion and love for dance this year as a member of the club’s executive team!
  •  ASPIRATIONS AFTER GRADUATION:  To be working in a hospital as a registered nurse.

  • FAVOURITE CHOREOGRAPHER: Mia Michaels
  • FAVOURITE MUSICAL: Little Shop of Horrors 
  • DANCE EXPERIENCE: Dakota has been dancing since she was three years old. She started with ballet, training for exams in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Dakota has been doing jazz since she was six and has also been trained in modern, lyrical, and hip-hop. She has completed all RAD ballet examinations up to and including Advanced I. Dakota also spent three years teaching ballet to young children as well as running summer dance camps at the University of Western Ontario. This is her second year on the executive team for the dance club and she cannot wait for a great year!

  • FAVOURITE MUSICAL: Jersey Boys & Billy Elliot
  • DANCE EXPERIENCE: Emma started dancing at the age of three at Marie Ann Longlade School of Dance. She began dancing competitively at the age of 7 and continued to do so for 10 years in ballet, tap, jazz, acro, lyrical and pointe. She attended Etobicoke School of the Arts as a dance major, studying modern and ballet for four years. She has completed many ballet, tap and jazz exams and recently completed her Associate Teachers certification in tap with the Canadian Dance Teachers' Association. This is Emma's second year in the McMaster Dance Club and she can't wait to see what the year has in store!
  • ASPIRATIONS AFTER GRADUATION: Currently a work in progress!
     Research, a health related career and teaching all remain as
     possibilities. 
  • WHAT EMMA LOVES ABOUT DANCE: That it is as much an outlet for individual creativity and expression as it is an opportunity to come together with a group of people who share the same
    energy and love for the art as yourself.

  • FAVOURITE MUSICAL: The Health Sciences Musical ;)
  • DANCE EXPERIENCE: At the age of three, Sabrina began dancing under her mother's instruction. When she was six years old she started training RAD ballet at the Conservatory of Dance and Music, gradually expanding her repertoire to include jazz, tap, hip hop, acro, contemporary, and lyrical. She continued to train and perform as a member of the competitive team in 2001 until she graduated high school in 2011. Sabrina also trained in ballet and modern (Jose Limon and Martha Graham techniques) at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts from grade 7 to grade 10. She began teaching and choreographing at the Conservatory of Dance and Music at the age of 16, as a senior member of the competitive team. She continues to teach and choreograph at the studio to date. Here at McMaster, Sabrina trains with the Verve Dance Team and  shares her undying love and passion for dance with MacDance Club!
  • ASPIRATIONS AFTER GRADUATION: Attending medical school
  • WHAT SABRINA LOVES MOST ABOUT DANCE: "To me, dancing is beautiful because it brings people together and it lets you express things that you feel but you may not even understand. Dance, like other art forms, transcends time, space, language, and experience. It is the human condition, only condensed and purified to a state of raw physicality. I love that dance is for everyone, and everyone has a special place in their lives for dance."
